The ‘Where is Peter Rabbit Treasure Trail?’ also known as the ‘Peter Rabbit Egg Hunt’ is a digital egg hunt across the Lake District. On the day of the trail, treasure hunters choose their starting point and as the clock strikes ten, start their day of fun searching for one of 100 beautiful ceramic Peter Rabbit eggs. Using a live Google map, participants play along and the egg marker locations are removed by Peter Rabbit HQ when each egg is found. Now in its 10th year, hundreds of families have taken part and say that the key to success in finding an egg is to keep your eyes open and solve the cryptic clues. The eggs are placed in top-secret Lake District locations and no digging or delving is necessary!
Everyone who finds an egg claims it as their own and its unique tag allows a family complimentary entry to the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction. In addition to this, there are a host of fabulous top prizes including overnight stays and activities generously donated by accommodation providers and Attractions in the Lakes. All top prizes also include tickets for the must-see theatre show of the summer ‘Where is Peter Rabbit?’ playing in the Old Laundry Theatre in Bowness.
The Treasure Trail goes live online at 10am on Wednesday 4 April via a secret link. To join in, treasure hunters need to register online prior to the event. No special egg hunting equipment is required for the super fun event – just a mobile device with internet signal, keen eyes and fantastic deciphering skills for the cunning clues! Once all the eggs have been found (usually by mid-afternoon) the treasure trail is over for another year and the lucky winners can come to the Attraction to collect their prize.
