FAQ for the 2017 Treasure Trail

Thank you!

To everyone who joined us on our epic Treasure Trail, thank you. You have found 100 eggs placed across some of the most beautiful countryside. 10 of you have won amazing top prizes, 100 of you have an egg to treasure and we hope everyone else had fun looking. As it stands, we have raised a magnificent £3,300 for WaterAid.

How do I take part?

To take part in the Treasure Trail you need to register via our sign up page here and give a minimum donation of £4 to WaterAid.

Where should I start the Treasure Trail?

We have hidden 100 eggs across the Lake District and perhaps a few beyond.  You can start from home or Bowness or wherever you like really - please drive safely and enjoy the day.  You may wish to have some handy car park change.

Do I need a car?

Ideally you do need to have transport to get about, and seek out the far flung locations. Once you've got to your destination you will need to walk to the egg location and keep your eyes on the prize!

How accessible is the Treasure Trail?

Our eggs are spread far and wide across the Lake District and beyond. There are a selection of eggs that are accessible for families with children in pushchairs and those with restricted mobility, but there are also a good number which will be placed on family walks that may only be accessible on foot. When you see the markers on the map, you should be able to see more clearly which eggs are suitable for you and your family to search for.

I haven't received my email with the map?

Please email [email protected] to let us know and we will resend it. You might need to check your junk filter.

Do I start at the World of Beatrix Potter Attraction?

You can start the Treasure Trail wherever you want - at home, in the Lakes or an area you wish to explore. Make sure you have 3G or wifi wherever you start!

What if I find more than one egg?

You are welcome to search for any number of the 100 special eggs, but you can only claim one special prize per family.

What do I do if I find an egg?

If you find an egg it is yours to keep!  Please read the tag on the egg and either call, text or tweet the World of Beatrix Potter to let us know you have found it.  We will then take it off the map and as everyone else updates the map they will see that egg has been found and start looking for another one.

What if I don't find an egg?

There are 100 eggs to find but not everyone will be lucky enough to track one down.  If you are doing the egg hunt with children, a top tip from past participants is to take some of your own choccie eggs or treasure - so if you haven't found one of our special eggs by the end of the day you can have the fun of doing a little treasure hunt of your own and no one goes home disappointed.
