On the day you will need a smart phone to pick up 3G signal, a vehicle to get to your egg location, a pair of wellies or walking shoes, a packed lunch, some snacks, change for car parks and a top sleuthing team of family or friends!

Join in the fun!

The ‘Where is Peter Rabbit Treasure Trail?’ is a digital egg hunt which requires a smart phone to view a google map and a vehicle to get you to your start point. Enjoy a fun day in the Lake District, searching for one of 100 ceramic eggs using an interactive map to help you. Top prizes to be won!
The event raises money for WaterAid, an international charity providing clean water and sanitation to some of the world’s poorest communities.

Technology and the great outdoors!

Participants use a live map which is constantly updated as each egg is found. 100 handcrafted ceramic eggs, designed and created by local artist Sue Dunne will be placed in top secret locations in the Lake District in open view in public areas, so no digging or delving is necessary. Many families take part every year and experienced egg hunters say that the key to success is to keep your eyes open and use the clues to help you.

Everyone who finds an egg claims it is as their own. The tag on the egg allows a family complimentary entry to our Attraction. There are also TEN FABULOUS TOP PRIZES including over night stays and activities generously donated by accommodation providers and Attractions in the Lakes. All top prizes also include tickets for the must-see theatre show of the summer ‘Where is Peter Rabbit?’ playing in the Old Laundry Theatre.  Check out the prizes here.

On the day!

The Treasure Trail will go live on our website at 10am on Wednesday 12 April via a secret link. To join in, treasure hunters need to register online prior to the event. No special egg hunting equipment is required for the super fun event – just a mobile device with internet signal, keen eyes and fantastic deciphering skills for the cunning clues! Once all the eggs have been found (usually by mid-afternoon) the treasure trail is over for another year and the lucky winners can come to the Attraction to collect their prize

Top tips and frequently asked questions

We have a list of FAQs which we have answered to help you and some rules and top tips. There are 100 eggs but not everyone will be lucky enough to track one down. A top tip from past participants is if you are doing the treasure hunt with children take some choccie eggs or treasure – so if you haven’t found one of our special eggs by the end of the day you can have the fun of doing a little treasure hunt of your own and no one goes home disappointed.
