Facilities for Disabled Visitors

MOBILITY

The World of Beatrix Potter Attraction is situated in the centre of the hilly town of Bowness-on-Windermere which makes getting around for those with mobility issues tricky.

Parking
We strongly recommend those with mobility issues park in the courtyard of the attraction. This means you can avoid paying for parking and the steep slopes leading to the attraction. Please call (015394) 88444 to book a parking space in the courtyard.

Layout
All sections of the attraction are on one level of the building with ample door width for wheelchairs. A new lift gives access to the toilets (including a mobility toilet) and Tailor of Gloucester Tea Room.

AN EXTRA DIMENSION...

The World of Beatrix Potter has been designed to appeal to all the senses – even smells and aromas are included to make the experience as evocative as possible.

VISION AIDS

At the heart of the World of Beatrix Potter are three-dimensional recreations of all 23 of Beatrix Potter’s Tales. This makes the attraction a very tactile experience for blind and partially sighted visitors.

Touch Tours
You are very welcome to explore the attraction by yourselves but a member of staff is available to offer a touch tour of the World of Beatrix Potter. Please call (015394) 88444 to request a tour.
